Dr. Charles L. Watts

Dr. Charles L. Watts, 89, died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18. 2012, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with burial at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Chuck was born April 3, 1923, to Charles and Carrie Mae (Vaughn) Watts in Nodaway, Iowa, the youngest of five children. He joined the United States Navy, where he was a Pharmacists Mate and played trombone in the Navy band. Later he attended the Chicago School of Podiatry and was past President of the Iowa Podiatry Society. He was a great handyman; could fix anything around the house, was a wonderful cook, and was passionate about playing golf.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Betty of Des Moines; his son, Greg and his wife Datha of Houston, TX; his nieces, Georgianne (Jack) Schreiber, and Paulette (Ron) Harmon; his nephews, Carlton (Kim) Peterson and Dick (Kathy) Watts; many cousins and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Lyle, Elmer, Jeanne, and Lois.
