I have many fond memories of Mrs. Collier from Monroe Elementary when I attended in the mid 70's. She always welcomed us into school every morning when we walked through the doors. Her smile and warm hugs made my day extra special. I loved her upbeat attitude, her long fingernails (I always wondered how in the world did she type but she did), her kindness, and caring heart. I always wondered what happened to her (and her nephew I believe Michael Stubbs), and even though she passed many years ago and I am just now seeing this, please know she touched many lives in such a positive way. Prayers to your family.

I just wanted to share a memory of Miss Collier, although i didn't know her personally. I was a little girl in the 70's attending Monroe elementary school and i remember her as our lunchroom attendant. She would walk around with her tall updo hair and make sure the kids were eating their lunch and would send you back to the table to eat more if she saw that you didn't eat much or drink most of your little milk carton. Memories are beautiful, especially when we hold close those that have passed away. I wish your family many fond memories to hold her close to your heart always. May God comfort all of you at this difficult time.

Although I hadn't seen Gloria for a number of years, I remember quite well our days working together at Monroe School in the late 70's . . . her infectious laugh, warm/loving personality, sense of adventure (we picked apples in a tree growing along side the school one fall!), not to mention her culinary skills (I still use her recipe for carrot cake!) . . . she always brought joy to fellow staff members and students alike - we were fortunate to have her in our lives.
And, while I'm unable to be in attendance at her funeral service, just know that Gloria and her family are in my thoughts and prayers . . . you have my deepest sympathy.
