Dean Henry, 89, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Iowa Health Hospice - Taylor House in Des Moines. He was born on October 18, 1922, in Defiance, Iowa, son of Howard and Freda Henry.
Dean worked for the State of Iowa and retired from Lister Industries in 1983. He was a devoted farmer who enjoyed fishing, wood working, and Polka music. Dean was also an avid card player and loved spending time with his family, his dog, Lady, and his many special friends. He was a Mason with Sardius Lodge in Irwin, Iowa for 50 years.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dee; children, Vivian Arnold, Diane (Wally) Lenczowski, Jeri Hedgecock, Kris (Larry) Trumper, Roxie (Frank) Miranda, and Max (Karan) Sloan, Jr.; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Freda; sister, Bernice Crooks, and niece, Shawn.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ankeny or Iowa Health Hospice – Taylor House, in loving memory of Dean.
