Jack J. Lipson, 92, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, surrounded by his family at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. with burial following at Elkhart Cemetery.
Jack was born July 1, 1920, in Des Moines, to Arthur and Cecilia. Jay was a proud Navy Veteran of WW II. He served on the USS Steamer Bay and the Quadalupe oil tanker in the South Pacific. After his dedicated service to his country, Jack worked in sales.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty Mae Lipson; son, Mark (Lettie) Lipson; step-son, John C. Payne; sister, Freida (David) Pearl; nieces and nephews, Adrianne Garrington, Marilyn Lipson, Allen (Mimi) Lipson, Harry (Young) Pearl, Mirian Pearl; and grandchildren, Kim, Chelsea, Britteny, Katelyn, and Sara. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charlie; sisters, Ida Kleinaman, Betty Woods, and Sylvia Williams; and grandson, Matthew Payne.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
