Norman Dean Deaton, 77, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at his home from cancer. He was born September 13, 1935 in Lorimor, Iowa.
Norman retired from the City of Los Angeles and then returned home to Iowa in 1992. He built bicycles for the Walmart on SE 14th for 15 years and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and woodworking. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
Norman is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda; son, Jim (Chris) Jones; five grandchildren; brothers, Gary (JoAnn) Deaton and Ray Deaton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katrina Deaton; brother, Richard Deaton; and sister, Marjorie Marco.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Dean's family: I worked in Layaway at Walmart for 15 years. Dean was a special guy, I feel very priviledged to have worked with him and to talk and get to know him. thinking of you, his family. He will be missed so much.
