Geraldine Stevenson

Geraldine Stevenson, 87, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012, with visitation one hour prior, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street. A graveside service will follow at the Masonic Cemetery.

Geraldine was born May 19, 1925, in Des Moines, to William and Florence Carl. She was a life-long resident of Des Moines, graduating from Lincoln High School. She married Richard Fillman, and to that union was born James “Jim” Warren. Richard died in 1945 during WWII. Geraldine later married another childhood love, William Stevenson, in 1950, and to that union was born, William “Billy” Carl. In November of this year, they would have celebrated 62 years of marriage. She and William enjoyed many trips to Branson. Geraldine was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her coffee.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, William; granddaughters, Virginia Anne Stevenson, Erika Lynn Kilker; five great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Catherine Reynolds Stevenson. She was preceded in death by sons, Jim and Billy.
