Jo Eddy (Tillie Josephine Webb)

October 02, 2012

Service Details

Jo Eddy was born February 6, 1931, to Wromie and Mary Webb in Versailles, MO and died October 2, 2012, at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines, IA.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, Mildred Webb (Mickey Alverez), Harry Webb, Horace (Red) Webb, William (WN) Webb, Doran Webb, and Delmar (Tooter) Webb; daughter Dorothy Ward; granddaughter Erin Erickson; and her husband of 18 years, Melvin Eddy.

She will be remembered in life by her daughters, Dian (Ward) Spake and Leonard Wilber, and Monica (Ward) Johnson and husband David; her son, Dana Breese; five grandchildren, Eric Erickson and wife Amber, Catrina (Williams) Nichols, Nickolas Williams and wife Shawnette and Amanda and David Breese; as well as several great-grandchildren.

Jo was a great role model for her children: tough, but fair and open to discussion. However, No meant No and Maybe or We’ll see meant she would try. She never made a promise to anyone that she didn’t keep. Jo had open arms and a huge heart for all who entered her circle of life. She had many roles in her life; daughter, wife, mother, friend, seamstress, food service worker, care giver, and business partner. Throughout her life she traveled 40 of the 50 states. She loved life, her family and friends, travel, puzzles, sewing, fishing, and enjoyed collecting mementos as reminders of the special events in her life.

Jo will be missed by not only her family, but all who were ever touched by her loving and kind spirit.

Remembrance services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, Jo requested donations be made to Iowa Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Fountain West Care Center.
