Dale R. Lang, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, October 1, 2012, from Myelodysplastic Syndrome at Taylor House surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Dale was born on November 7, 1934, in Haverhill, Iowa, to Joe and Rose Lang. Dale was raised on a farm in Marshall County, with sisters Lue, Evelyn, Lorraine, JoAnn, and brother Earl (Bud). He graduated from Melbourne High School and entered the US Army in 1953. He was stationed at Fort Lewis in Yakima, Washington, in the motor pool division, receiving an honorable discharge in 1955.
Dale married Carol Loomis on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1959. Their daughter Terri was born the following Thanksgiving. Their son Rick was born in April, 1963, and Dan in February, 1968.
Dale worked at Friedman Motors, and then started teaching Automotive Technology at Des Moines Technical High School/Central Campus for 27 years. His teaching career ended in 1991 because of health issues. In 1996, Dale and Carol became snow birds and have a home in Mesa, Arizona. Dale was a fun-loving father, and entertained his children and their friends with camping trips, boating/skiing, dune bugging, and dirt bike riding. His home was the popular spot in the neighborhood. Dale is the proud grandfather to Amanda, Nick, Sam, and Emily. And a great-grandfather to Bailey.
Dale and Carol enjoyed many motorcycle trips across the country. Dale had many life long friends and enjoyed sharing his life with them.
Dale is survived by his loving wife Carol; children Terri Crise of Des Moines, Rick (Teresa) of Marshalltown, and Dan (Jennifer) of Moraga, California; four grandchildren, Amanda Crise, Nick Lang, Sam Lang, and Emily Crise; great-granddaughter Bailey Curry; sisters, Lue Kaminski, Evelyn Hennis, Lorraine Stanley, and JoAnn Lanz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Lang, father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Madelyn Loomis, and brother Earl (Bud) Lang.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Taylor House, or Christ the King Catholic Church in loving memory of Dale.

I had the good fortune to work with Dale at Central Campus and he was such a great guy to work with there. I was also glad to have seen him at the Sleep Clinic and at least shake his hand. I know he will be missed and you have my deepest condolences.

My childhood memories are filled with Uncle Dale teasing me endlessly. I loved it and I know it was how he said, "I love you."

So sorry for your great loss. I know one thing..for sure..he was an awesome Dad, as he raised one great wonderful daughter that I call my best friend!! May he RIP now and family/friends will now celebrate/honor his great life. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. God Bless.

Carol and family:
