Service Details

Paul Aloysius O’Connor, 81, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at his home. A funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, October 3, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Paul was born May 1, 1931, on a farm in Sway City, IA, to Arthur and Sylvia O’Connor. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country on the destroyer USS Twining during the Korean War. Paul retired from John Deere.

Paul was a big-hearted man who loved his family. He enjoyed sports, especially the Cubs, Cyclones, and Hawks. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He and Betty enjoyed traveling.

Paul is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Danny; daughters, Paula Meyer and Pamela O’Connor; grandchildren, Daniel, Betsy, Amanda, Nicholas, and Colton; and great grandchildren, Aiden, Connor, Zoey, Malakai, and Lelani He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; daughter, Patricia O’Connor; brothers, Robert, Charles, Richard, and David; and sisters, Berniece, Margaret, Frances, and Evelyn.
