Service Details

Rosemary J. Flam, 82, went to be with her sons in Heaven after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Sunday, September 23, 2012.

Rosemary was born April 6, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa, to Frank and Ann Quinn. She graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy for Girls in 1948, and moved to Des Moines in 1949. She worked for 10 years as an accountant for Boss Hotels and then went to work for the Iowa Tuberculosis Association. She then married her husband, John, of 50 years. Rosemary was an art teacher at Visitation Catholic School for 13 years, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, Christmas, and all of the festivities that came with each holiday season. Rosemary’s family was her pride and joy; they were number one in her heart and in her life.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, John; son, Atila Flam; daughter, Karolina Flam; daughter-in-law, Diane Flam; grandchildren, Mikolina Lowe, Gabriel Lowe, and Karlie Flam; and her sister, Laurie Persingle. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton, Robert and Patrick Quinn; sister, Shirley Quinn; and her sons, Karl “Tony” Flam and Michael Flam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A private family burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Stoddard Compassion Fund.

A special thanks to everyone that helped the family and Rosemary through her final journey.
