Donald Barr, Sr.

Donald Harrison Barr, Sr., 82, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Home in Indianola. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donald was born November 3, 1924. He was an Aviation Radioman Third Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Donald retired in 1986 from the City of Des Moines after 30 years of service with the street department. He loved to play guitar and country western music. Donald was a Mason.
Donald is survived by his children, Robert Barr, Martha Holdefer, Georgina Weiser, Donald Barr, Jr. and Thomas Barr; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina of 47 years; four brothers and his parents.
