Leonard Larson, 79, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2012.
Leonard was born on October 4, 1932, in Des Moines, to Mabel and Leonard Larson.
He retired from the Rock Island and Chicago Northwestern Railroads, and he proudly served his country in the US Air Force.
Leonard is survived by his son, Charles (Twila) Larson and family; daughters, Sue (Vern) Pershing and Jean (Grover) Davis and their families; sister, Phyllis (Wayne) Swanson; and sister-in-law, Lois Larson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Jean; and brother, Gary Larson.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Jean, Sue & Chuck, Our Prayers and thoughts are with you at this timeof your loss. Leonard has been a very special part of our life and family for the past several years. He was always kind and treated us as family when we were in Iowa. We will miss our time and visits with him.
Due to health, we cannot attend the services. But please know that we have the utmost respect and love for your father leonard Larson and will miss him very much.

I am sad to hear Leonard passed away so suddenly.
He and I e-mailed often and planned to meet for lunch. Of course, as often happens this didn't get done. That fact even makes me feel worse.
