Charles Ruperto
September 13, 2012
Charles L. Ruperto, 71, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2012. Charles was born December 28, 1940, in Des Moines, to Joseph and Josephine Ruperto, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.
Charles owned and operated Complete Line Remodeling, Inc for 35 years. His son joined him in the 1980s, which also allowed them to start Father and Son Enterprises. Charles took great pride in working with his son and the businesses they were able to grow together. He was also an avid car collector, which inspired him to establish Maury Plaza Motors, his most recent venture.
Charles and Coleen were active members of Fairview Congregational Christian Church in Stuart. He was on the Board of Directors of VSA of Iowa, and was a lifetime member of the Izaak Walton League.
Charles was an all around outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and especially spending time at his farm near Stuart. He was an avid golfer. In recent years, he took great pleasure in playing golf with his son and grandsons as they developed the same love of the game. The moments and memories created on the golf course were his treasures.
Charles is survived by wife of 46 years, E. Coleen Ruperto; children, Charlie (Melinda) Ruperto and Anna (Dana Schrader) Ruperto; grandchildren, Anthony and Jacob Ruperto; sisters, Anna (Roger) Williams and Vickie (Darwin) Halfwassen; niece, Anita (Matt) Unger; children from a previous marriage, Joe and Kim; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant child.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 16th, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Fairview Congregational Christian Church.

I'm so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He was a great guy - a little crazy, but in the very best way. He always took the time to be nice to a socially awkward high school kid hanging around the house. I figure he and my dad are hoisting a metaphorical beer and shooting pool (and both cheating shamelessly, most likely). Deepest condolences to the whole family from both Shari and I.

Charlie has been a part of Wendy's life for as long as she can remember, always a beautiful smile on his face, happy and laughing. When he came to our wedding he was the life of the party. He danced with the groom (james) and always the life of the party. He was always there whether in good times or bad. Over the holidays he and Colleen would always bring sweet treats and talk and laugh and laugh. He was a beautiful, unique soul and there will always be an emptieness in out hearts now that he is gone. We would always look forward to look forward to running into him either in stuart or dexter at the rusty duck. We will all truly miss him.

I am so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He was a sweet caring man. Such as the 40 Yellow Roses Charlie sent me for my 40th Birthday. I am grateful, also, for him serving on the VSA Iowa Board for the organization that I am involved with. My sympathies to Colleen, little Charlie and Anna and their families.

My family and I are so sad and shocked to hear of Charlie's passing. He was such a good , giving, compassionate man. We have been friends since our school days at Lincoln High, and we graduated in the same June 1959 class. Our family has so many fond memories of you and your family. We will miss you and we pray for you and your family at this time of sorrow.
