Robert H. Muenzenberger
September 11, 2012
Robert H. Muenzenberger, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Bob was born on April 29, 1929, in La Crosse, WI, to Gertrude (Schild) and Henry Muenzenberger. After graduation, Bob’s career spanned many years in the transportation industry. He began his career in Milwaukee and there met Sylvia Jens. They were married in 1952, and began their life together with the first move to Mequon, WI, where they resided for 18 years. Next they moved to Carmel, IN, for 4 years, and then to Hoffman Estates, IL for 33 years, and finally to Des Moines in 2010 to be closer to family.
Bob was an avid hunter and spent many weekends hunting with his sons. He was also a passionate volunteer for the Boy Scouts and never missed a campout with his boys.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia; sons, John (Beth) and Jim (Lisa) Muenzenberger; and his grandchildren, Christie (Travis) Birchem, Sarah (Chris) Fitzgerald, and James Muenzenberger.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America. Services are private.

Dear Sylvia, John, Beth, Sarah, Christie, Travis and Chris,
Mike and I want to let you know that we are sorry for your loss. In the few times that we got to meet Bob, he was always friendly and seemed like a great guy. Through Sarah we can tell that John is a wonderful father, so we know that Bob was a good father, too. You will be in our hearts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Muenzenberger family.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bob a few years ago. Within just minutes of meeting him, I knew he was a man of honor and sincerity. I also knew he loved his wife and family deeply. I also could see he was a hard working man and was very proud of his accomplishments and most of all his family.
In the short time I knew him, he touched my heart. I will always remember him and think of him very fondly.
