Eugene Gruenwald

Eugene “Gene” Gruenwald, 82, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Gene was born January 13, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Betty Mae Patterson in 1954. Gene worked on the assembly line for American Motors and later Chrysler, retiring in 1987. He and Betty moved from Wisconsin to Des Moines in 2009 to be closer to family.

Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Gruenwald; brother-in-law, Bill Patterson; brother, Cliff Gruenwald; sister, Dorothy Gruenwald; sister-in-law, Anna Gruenwald; granddaughter, Angela; and great-granddaughter, Sylvia. He was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

Per his request, his body has been cremated, and private family services will be held at a later date.
