Owen Clifford Cox, 92, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines after a long and wonderful life.
Born on February 3, 1920 in Burkesville, KY to Robert and Elizabeth Cox, Owen graduated from high school and joined the US Army. While stationed in Cheyenne, WY, Owen met the love of his life, Ada Cirksena. They were married in 1952 and moved to southern California where they spent 49 years raising their family. In 2008, Owen and Ada moved to Des Moines to be near their daughter and son-in-law.
Owen was a proud World War II Veteran and while living in California was an active member of the V.F.W. He lived by the golden rule and spent his life helping others. Owen enjoyed life, the love of his family, playing the violin and a good joke – given or received.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Cox; sister, Marjorie Davenport; and son, Gregg Alan Cox.

We shared a common grandson whom we all knew was your pride and joy and your only grandson. You was a doting father and grandfather and a good friend to all who knew you. We will never forget your friendliness and your love of small talk. We love hearing your stories about WWII and how you were there. Thank you to an American hero.
