Sue, I was informed of Dick's passing. I am keeping him and your family in my prayers. I'll ask our son, Ed, a Catholic priest in Juneau, Alaska to include Dick in a Mass.
You may recall how I first met Dick. On my first day of Kindergarten at All Saints School (Sept. of 1943?) @ 5 years old, I met this kid Dick Zaun. We became instant buddies. After school that day, I walked clear out to his house. Dick's mom was frantic trying to find out who this little 5yr old boy was who came home with Dick. What's your name? do you have a home phone (NO). The neighbor does. So Mary called the neighbor asking her to let my mom (who was also frantic) know where her little kid was. Heck, I was only about a mile from home, and I was with my big buddy. What's wrong with that?? I can't remember if I was punished or not, but Dick and I were life-long buddies.
God bless Dick and your family.

Dear Sue,
I am so very sorry to hear about Dick. I know how highly my Mom and Dad thought of him. I remember Dad saying "he is one of the good ones." And my brother Randy had his first real job from Dick. They both felt it a privilege to work with Dick and call him friend. My prayers and love to you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your dad. It is always hard to lose a loved one, but very difficult when it is a parent. Even though I never met your dad I know he was proud of you.

My condolences to the Zaun Family from North Dakota. Dick always made me feel welcome in my time with JD DSM Works. My favorite memory was when I hosted a social at my house and an intern made the mistake of parking his car behind his van and came into the house with his stern voice. "Who parked a white car behind my van?!!!!!!!" A good laugh was had by all. God Bless Dick Zaun. Pat Artz
