Giovanni "Johnny" Carraro

Giovanni “Johnny” Carraro, 74, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Giovanni was born in Italy on July 2, 1938. Before moving to the United States, he lived in London for many years. Giovanni worked as a maitre d’ for The Metz, Glen Oaks Golf & Country Club, the Wakonda Club and most recently, Noah’s Ark. He was a great cook, loved to golf, enjoyed music and adored his dog, Eloise. Giovanni was a member of St. Augustin Catholic Church.

Giovanni is survived by his children, Anthony (Yasmin) Carraro, Estelle Carraro, and Christopher Carraro, all of London, England, and Christina (Kyle) Peterson; grandchildren, Maya and Ryan; brothers, Giuseppe and Lorenzo; sisters, Clara, Lina, Francesca, and Teresa; former spouse, Pamela Wilson; and many extended family members and beloved friends.

Giovanni will be buried in his homeland of Italy at a later date. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at St. Augustin Church, 545 42nd Street in Des Moines.
