We invite you to “Glitz it up Joy style” with our family and friends in Celebration of Joy Ann Gicoff!

Joy passed away on August 29, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born in Grimes, IA on August 7, 1932 to Catherine and Loran Denton. Joy graduated from Grimes High School and attended AIB business school.

Melvin Gicoff, Joy's husband of 58 years, preceded her in death in 2010. She is survived by her son, Kim; daughter, Jodi; and her beloved grandpuppies, Baxter and Winston; her sister, Cletus Helen Schwalbe of Cedarburg, WI and her brother, Charles Denton of Perioa, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.

Joy worked for Meredith Publishing and then went on to enjoy her never ending passion in the model and talent industry in Des Moines. She was featured in many Des Moines Register stories as well as modeling on the Mary Bruebaker show. Her career ended when she retired from Corell Modeling and Talent where she had fully enjoyed and loved all her students, their bright talent and the memories she could share with them. We were truly all blessed to have Joy as a part of our lives either as a parent, a sibling, an aunt, a cousin or a friend. We all have very special memories of our life with Joy.

A tribute to Joy’s life and in “Joy style” is planned for Friday evening, September 28th, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA during the hours of 5 to 8 (come and go). We ask you to come in your “Glitz and Glamour” attire for this special gathering. If you are unable to attend, please know that a favorite memory of Joy may be shared at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com for our family to enjoy as a keepsake.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Joy Gicoff with her love of children, to Camp Hertko Hollow, Inc., Iowa’s camp for kids with diabetes, 101 Locust St. DSM, IA 50309, or to Iowa Hospice.
