Charles Sears

Chuck Sears passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the Valley View Village in the early morning hours of August 20, 2012. He was surrounded by the love of his life Elizabeth, and his children Lisa and Lynn.

Chuck was born August 30, 1929, in Russell, IA, the son of Albert and Inez Sears. He was a Korean War Veteran with the US Army, and retired from Firestone in Des Moines in 1991, after almost 40 years of service. Chuck was a member of the United Rubber Workers Local 310, and belonged to Post 0374 of the American Legion.

Chuck is survived by his wife Elizabeth; daughter, Lisa Wright; son, Lynn Sears (Brandi); grandchildren, Jimmy and Aaron Gibney, Laura Smith and Jessica Wright, Dustin and Carson Sears; one great-grandson, Rohwen Smith; and extended family members, including Richard and Velma Duckworth. One of Chuck's favorite pastimes was going to McDonalds for coffee with his friends. No memorial service is planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the North High Polar Bear Booster Club, 501 Holcomb Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313.
