Arlene Delores Rhoades from Des Moines, Iowa lived and loved her family for 82 years, making memories with us all to carry along with us for many years to come. She passed on Saturday, August 18th, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center.
Arlene was born on May 31, 1930, to Charles and Susan Calkins, in Webster City, Iowa. She had a life full of laughs and friends while growing up with her siblings and cousins, and married Earl Don Rhoades in 1949. She had four beautiful children that carry her with them today.
She is survived by her husband Earl, daughter Barbra Jo Foley, sons Jim and Keith Rhoades, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and dog Toby, who all dearly miss her.
We welcome friends and family at a small graveside service held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, IA, at 4:00 pm
.
Arlene taught her family many lessons to carry with us, and most important was to love and give through love, even to strangers. We will always love her, and she will eternally be in our hearts.
