Ruth Grant

Ruth Grant, 91, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at Parkridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill.

Ruth was born June 23, 1921, in Houston, Missouri, to Charles and Beulah West. She was a graduate of East High School. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for Cohen’s Food Town for 25 years, and she had also worked for Sink Paper Co. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ and a very active member of the Pleasant Hill community, where she served on various boards over the years. Ruth was an avid Cubs fan!

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Rosanne (Cliff) Van Vleet; son, Rick (Ellen) Grant; brothers, Bob and James West; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Ralph; brothers, Clarence and Charles West; and her sister, Lu Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Pleasant Hill Church of Christ or the Pleasant Hill Women’s League.
