James Dawson

James R. Dawson, 73, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jim was born February 28, 1934 to Thomas and Martha Dawson in Des Moines. He owned Dawson Construction and worked many years for Massey Ferguson. Jim enjoyed working on cars and fabricating parts.
Jim is survived by his children, Melody Todd of Georgia, Scott (Jeanne) Dawson of West Des Moines, Sandra (David) Stanley of Des Moines, and Jake Dawson of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Timothy (Jessalyn) Todd, Michelle Todd, Zach (Susan) Dawson, and Amy (Lee) VanWyk; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Will, Lea, Lilly, and Sophia; brothers, Thomas and Kenneth (Linda); sisters, Pat, Nancy, Bonnie, and Connie; and special friends, Thelma Hall and David Martin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents; and sister, Evelyn.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Rescue League or West Des Moines Human Services.
