Zelpha “Dodie” Wilson passed away with her family by her side on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Dodie was born on November 4, 1931, in Prole, Iowa, to Olin and Bertha (Coffman) Slone.

Dodie retired as a customer service representative for BP Amoco and also for Wal-Mart. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.

Dodie is survived by her children, Debbie (Joe) Kouri , Bob (Jan) Wilson, and Rhonda (Tom) Johnson; grandchildren, Jay (Shelly) Kouri, Amber (Jeff) Lenninger, Adam (Ashlee) Wilson, Scott (Shannon) Johnson, and Ronna (Ron) Waldo; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Zatha Moen; brother, Duane Slone; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wilson; grandson, Charles Wilson and sister, Velva Valenti.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.
