Edward Charles Buch, 94, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Trinity Center at Luther Park. He was born April 18, 1918, to Frederick and Helen (Pennington) Buch in Clarinda.

Ed graduated from Amity High School in College Springs and served in the US Army during WWII. His career consisted of farming and owner/operator of Empire Floors. In his early retirement years, he managed the Iowa State Fair Grandstand Ticket Sales Office.

Ed was a long time member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and American Legion Baldwin-Patterson Post 274. He also coached Grandview Little League and was a member of Good Sam’s Camping Club.

Ed is survived by his children, Jan Higgins of Pleasant Hill, D.J. (Craig) Johnson of Kansas City, Fred (Julie) Buch of Pleasant Hill, John (Joyce) Buch of Shalimar, Florida, and Chuck Buch of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; foreign exchange daughter from Australia, Phillipa (Robert) Palmer;and a host of other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; second wife, Marjorie; and daughter, Helen Strait.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4003 2nd Avenue. Burial and luncheon will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines and Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, respectively. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
