Hal I. Phillips, 87, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. He was born October 4, 1924, in Smithfield, Nebraska, to Ray and Addie Phillips.

Hal enjoyed woodworking, camping, telling Navy stories, and watching his grandkids play sports. Hal loved people and never knew a stranger. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Hal is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna; daughters, Connie Phillips, Dixie Aljets and Janet Molde; four grandchildren, Michelle (Lance) Arrasmith, Trevor (Tiffany) Aljets, Derek (Shileen) Molde, and Kayla (James) Hutton; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Maggie (Tony) Thulin; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Addie Phillips; brother, Don Phillips; son, Kerry Phillips; and great-grandson, Blake Aljets.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will be at a later date in the family cemetery in Oxford, NE.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Hal.
