Service Details

Mr. Mone Vanlo, born October 16, 1955, died at the age of 56 on July 27, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 4, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation with family present will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place on Monday, August 6, in the Tai Dam section of Glendale Cemetery, beginning at 10:00 am.

Mr. Vanlo was born in Saigon, Vietnam, the son of Inh Vanlo and Peng Lothi, and first son from a family of 10.

In 1955, he immigrated to Laos along with his parents. He attended school at Viet Anh, and graduated and received a diploma. He later attended Lycée Private School in the evenings.

Following the completion of his education in 1973, he worked as a hotel restaurant manager for Royal Airlines at Vientiane Laos International Airport.

In March of 1973, he was blessed to have found and married the love of his life, King Luong. Both parents were so proud to unite them to begin their journey as one family. Good fortune has given him 2 children – a daughter, Cheua, and a son, Grandy.

In early 1976, due to the political change in Laos, Mr. Vanlo helped bring his family as refugees to Nong Kai, Thailand. In June of the same year, he immigrated with his family to Des Moines, Iowa, in the United States of America.

To begin his life in America, he worked to pursue his commercial trucking license in order to start an independent trucking business. 1n 1991, he decided to make a career change, and purchased a hotel business in Lexington, Nebraska. Within 4 years, he purchased another hotel in Brainerd, Minnesota.

In 1998, he decided to follow his dreams in the pursuit of happiness and move his family to California, to become a casino manager. During his time in California, he found his life-long passion for the game of golf, and enjoyed eating foods from all over the world.

In an unfortunate event, his life was cut short peacefully while enjoying his love for the game of golf on Friday, July 27, 2012, at 3:00 pm, in California.
