Service Details
Howard B. Porter, Sr., 90, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Iowa Lutheran Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Howard was born August 25, 1921, to Mary and Benjamin Porter. He was a bus driver for Jefferson Lines for 37 years. Howard is a member of the Southgate Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, and past member of the Rainbow Girls, DeMolay, and Toastmaster Club.
Howard is survived by his wife, Irene, sons, Howard, Jr.,and Alan (Theresa), and granddaughter, Megan.

Irene, Alan, and Howard, Jr.
I was saddened to learn of Howard's death. Sorry I never got to know Howard, Jr.
For over 35 years we had lots of good times together. Howard's love of fireworks, humor, fishing, and carnival rides will always be remembered.
His smoked bullheads were a real treat!
During this difficult time, may it help to know that others care.

Howard-
We were so sorry to see your dad's obituary in the paper. We didn't see it in time for me to make arrangements to go to the funeral today. Take care and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Irene, I saw in the paper that you lost your dear husband, Howard. You had a long life together and I am sure you will feel his loss for a long time to come. Keith and I send our sincere sympathy.
We live in Urbandale and have for 8 years, after having lived on an acreage near Van Meter for 27 years. We have a son, Bruce who is an engineer and a daughter, Bonnie, who is a college professor.
I hope you are well and that you remember me.........a close friend of Mary Ann Woolway.
