Mary Louise Terrebonne, 90, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa, with loved ones by her side.

Mary was born March 6, 1922, in Eliza, Illinois, to Marie and Wilson (Doc) Brewer. After graduating from North High School in Des Moines, she worked as a secretary at her father’s realty company. During WWII she moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the department of War. After the war she moved to California, where she met and married Lloyd Terrebonne. They had three children together. Mary later moved back to Des Moines to raise her children and be close to family.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle presence, selfless giving, and love of family. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and watching college sports. She loved animals and caring for the many stray pets that always managed to find her home.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Leo O’Grady, her husband, Lloyd, and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Mary is survived by her children Tom (Patricia) of St Louis, MO, Tina Condon (Chuck) of Pensacola, FL and Dan (Tammy) of Des Moines, IA. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that loved her and will miss her deeply.

The family would like to thank all of mother’s caregivers, doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy West Hospital, and Bishop Drumm for their love and comfort through this journey.

A celebration of life will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. A graveside service will be held at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, at 3:00 pm.

Per Mary’s wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest beside her beloved mother and papa in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, following a graveside service.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Mary.
