Mildred E. Beals Lockard

Mildred Evelyn (Race) Beals Lockard, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Kavanaugh on 56th Street.

Mildred was born on March 1, 1925, to Joe and Ruby Race. She retired from Square Deal Insurance Co., where she had worked for many years. Mildred was a member of Sheridan Park United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She liked to garden and embroider, and won several blue ribbons over the years for her embroidery entries at the Iowa State Fair. Mildred loved spending time with her friends at the Shores in Pleasant Hill.

Mildred is survived by her children, Don (Connie) Beals, Linda (Paul) Minks, Cindy (Tom) Swanson, and Fay (Gina) Beals; sister, Hazel Crawford; brother, Lewis Race; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Beals, second husband, Ted Lockard, and her sister, Elva Dustman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
