Margaret James

Margaret “Peggy” Van Dyke James, passed away on July 25, 2012, at Genesis Senior Living Center in Des Moines. She was 89. Peggy was born March 22, 1923, in Bagley, Minnesota, to Earl and Hazel South.

Peggy married Elmer Van Dyke in 1946. They were married 33 years prior to his death. She then married Merlyn James in 1995. Peggy worked at Younkers for several years and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

She is survived by her sons, Chuck (Cheryl) Van Dyke, Robert (Bobbie) Van Dyke and Jerry South; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Hazel; brothers, Dick, Bob, and John; sisters, Arlene, Roberta, Janet, and Rose; and her husband, Elmer Van Dyke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
