Aldahir “Elijah” Esparza infant son of Adrian and Eva Esparza was born June 8, 2012, and passed away July 25, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
In addition to his loving parents, Elijah is survived by his siblings, Aracely, Alexa, Omar, and Adrian; grandparents, Maria Gonzalez, Jose Ayala, Jose, and Alicia Esparza; step-grandparents, Carmen Ayala and Enrique Gonzalez; great-grandparents, Eva Candelas and Maria Cruz; many aunts, uncles, and cousins and other extended family in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Wells Fargo Bank - Aldahir Elijah Esparza Baby Benefit Memorial Fund.

I'm so sorry Eva, I can't even begin to imagine the magnitude of what you are going through right now. Elijah was lucky to have such a wonderful mother and family by his side. I have your family in my thoughts and prayers, and pray that god will help you find peace in this very difficult time.

Eva, I know that nothing anyone says can make the pain of losing your little one go away. Just know that we love him and he has his angel wings now and will be waiting for us when we are called home too. I will be here to help you with anything that you need help with. I love you sister and I will always have a spot in my heart for "Eli." I am so happy that I got the chance to be his aunt and that I spent so much time in the hospital with him. It was nice getting to spend time with him but also nice to be able to give you comfort and also a few laughs in such a difficult time. Just remember that when you feel like everyone has moved on, we havent. You can call me anytime of the day and I will be there to talk to you, sit on the phone with you in silence, or even cry with you. Elijah was a fighter and he put up a good fight. I love you sister and will always be here for you.
