Kay F. Kerr

Kay F. Kerr, 71, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Kay was born November 9, 1940, in Des Moines, to Charles and Thelma (DeMoss) Swertfager. She graduated from East High School and was a lifelong member of Easton Place United Methodist Church. Kay was also a member of Eastern Star and Lay Street Entertainers. She had strong faith in the Lord and a quick wit. Kay was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Kay is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lee “M.L.”; son, Chuck Toomer; grandchildren, Samantha and Michael; great-granddaughter, Arianna; step-children, Linda Allen (Larry), Sandi Morris (Tom), Mike Kerr (Joni), Steve Kerr (Becky), Shari Leo (Pete) and Jeri Schrimper (Mike); 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Swertfager (Sherry); many nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Easton Place United Methodist Church, 2412 Easton Blvd., followed by burial at the Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
