Iris McClemons

Services for Iris L. McClemons, 92, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Iris was born on May 11, 1915 to James F. and Maggie Mae (Card) Norman in Franklin County, Iowa. She was united in marriage on May 22, 1932 to Howard “Bob” Matthew McClemons and from this union seven children were born. Iris was a homemaker and loved her children and grandchildren. She loved to read and was a great bread maker and was so proud of saying that she could ride horses better than the boys! She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Iris is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ben) Gambrel of Ankeny, IA; sons, Ron (Elaine) McClemons of Melcher, IA and David (Kathy) McClemons of Lacona, IA; son-in-law, James Burrell of New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Norman of Hampton, IA and Veneta Norman of Iowa Falls, IA; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Howard; three daughters, Barbara J. Burrell, Virginia “Ginny” M. McClemons and Kathleen “Kitty” I. Miklus; son, Robert “Reggie”J. McClemons; her parents, three brothers, Dolores, Delbert and Darwin; sister-in-law, Eva Norman; granddaughter, Laura Burrell and great-grandson, Earl Smith IV.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
