David W. Heinemann, Sr., 73, died Wednesday, July 13, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Ft. Des Moines Shelter House #2 on Friday, July 20, 2012 beginning at 3 p.m.
David was born February 12, 1939 in Lockport, New York. David was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked for over 30 years as a master mechanic at R&R Donnelly. David loved Harleys, cars and Chevy trucks.
David is survived by his children, David (Patty) Heinemann, Jr., Beverly Heinemann; grandchildren, Sara, David III, James; one brother and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of David.

Wow what a bummer. I can't believe he's gone. So many times I thought about stopping by, only to put it off to another day. In the neighborhood multiple times, in the last couple weeks'but it was so hot, I thought I would stop another time. Won't get to hear him call me sprocket anymore.
I "ve known Dave for over 25 years. I was the young guy in the group along with Dave Wilson, and we would ride our bikes all over together. It always ended up being a race to our next stop. I never felt like the young guy though, just one of the guys. Best day was when the two Daves went off somewhere and after awhile, hollered at me to come into the garage. The two of them had installed a blue dot in my tailight. That was a big thing, I was never so proud, I will always have that tailight and that memory of them both. I can see them both smiling now. Ride safe boys and give heaven a taste of Hell, the Over The Hill Gang way.

Dave was a good neighbor!! If he saw me outside, he would always make a point to say "Hi Donna". On the occasions that he would accept a dinner invitation at my house, he would always have a story to tell. I loved to hear the ones about his boating experiences in MO.
He will be deeply missed!
