Service Details

Robert “Bob” Harban, 91, passed away July 11, 2012, at home in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. There will be a graveside service for the family at a later date.

Bob was born September 6, 1920, to Joe and Gladys Harban. He graduated from East High School in 1938, served in the Army Air Corps, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

After retiring, Bob spent much of his time between Des Moines, Indianola, and Colorado Springs, where he most recently volunteered for Silver Key and S.V.A.T. (Senior Victim Assistance Team). Bob enjoyed helping others and spending time with family and friends. Together, with his wife, Lillian, he enjoyed camping and square dancing. August 17, 2010, Bob participated in the WWII Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Bruce) Peters; son, Bob (Kristine) Harban; and brother, Chuck Harban. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian (Lowe) Harban; son, Joe (Linda) Harban; brother, Joe Harban; sisters, Gladys Anderson, Mary Powell and Mable Wilhite; and twin grandsons, Bobby and Alan Harban.
