Lois Horak

Lois Horak, 80, died peacefully at Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on July 6, 2012. She was born May 25, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John and Bertha Yuva.

Lois is survived by children Pamela (Stephen) Holt, Mark (Janan) Horak, and John Horak. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren and five wonderful great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Norbert E. Horak, her brother John Yuva Sr., her beloved grandson Adam Horak, her great-grandson Camden O’Connor, and her parents John and Bertha Yuva.

Lois was full of life, full of spit and vinegar, loved spending time with her family, loved shopping, chocolate, and reminiscing about her travels as an Air Force wife and her Czech heritage. She loved to tease, loved bragging about her grandbabies and listening to Elvis.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St. in Des Moines. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with burial at the Carlisle Cemetery.
