Margaret E. Wickware, 96, was born February 28, 1916, in Scranton, Iowa, the daughter of Solomon and Grace Klehm. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Parkridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Margaret graduated from Paton High School in 1933, and moved to Des Moines in 1943. On May 10, 1946, she married the love of her life, Hugh Wickware, and to this union one child was born.
Margaret is survived by her son, Ronald (Patricia) Wickware of Des Moines; grandsons, James (Gretchen) Wickware of West Des Moines and Jon (Angela) Wickware of Ankeny; great-grandsons, Ryan, Benjamin, and Levi; other loving relatives; and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, and two brothers.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to Care Initiatives Hospice through Parkridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in loving memory of Margaret.

My brother, Philip Thompson, has let me know that our long-time family friend, Margaret, has passed away. She was a special part of our family history, having been the person who took care of me when I was a baby (1940), until she moved to Des Moines. She was also the one who carried my brother up the stairs into our apartment (above the Post Office in Grand Junction) on the day he was born. It seems he arrived while our folks were on the way to the hospital in Jefferson, so they decided it made more sense to just turn around and go back home. Margaret was there to meet them, took the newborn upstairs, and the men put our Mom on a kitchen chair and carried her upstairs that way. What a story!
I used to chat with Margaret by phone from time to time in past years, and she always seemed
to be the pleasant person that our family had enjoyed so much. We are sorry for your loss. She will always be part of our memories.
