Lorraine Young

Lorraine Young, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Broadlawns Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Lorraine Gulley was born March 8, 1931 to John and Cora (Sims) Gulley in Rosston, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Fred Young and the couple was blessed with seven children.

Lorraine enjoyed singing, cooking, and dancing. Mostly she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Donnaray Staples, Jessie Mae Staples, Opal Gulley, Ira Tidwell, Jerry Young, and Terry Young; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Gulley; and brother, Troy Gulley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Young; parents, John and Cora Gulley; daughter, Patricia Young; grandson, Nicholas Young; six brothers; and five sisters.
