Eilene Liddell, born in Bevier, Missouri on October 30, 1917 passed away in Houston, Texas on June 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Liddell, her brother Russell Jones, her brother's in law Arnold Liddell, Kenneth (Joe) Liddell, sister in law Peg Liddell, and niece Barbara Gaines. She is survived by her son W. Thomas Liddell of Houston Texas, grandchildren Amber Alwais, Lt Col. Jason T Liddell, Brent Liddell, son in law Randy Alwais, daughter in law Deborah Liddell, brother Norman Jones, and her three great grandsons, Jacob, Joshua, and Jackson. Eilene's life was filled with activity and joy. Eilene and her husband ran Liddell Distributing Company which made wholesale sales to stores and customers across Iowa for over 20 years. She was an active parishioner at All Saints Parish for over fifty years. Eilene loved her lake home at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, where she water skied until she was 72 years of age. After her husband's death, Eilene worked at the Des Moines Housing Authority for more than 20 years serving the needs and creating homes for hundreds of elderly Iowans. An involved member of the Des Moines Community, Eilene served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, the Garden Club, and other civic organizations. Eilene moved to Houston, Texas in 2009 to be close to her family. The family is especially appreciative to Anna Vides who became not only Eilene's helper, but her friend and companion. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at All Saints Church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. You can find much comfort in the Holy Scriptures which assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Tom, where to start! The stories, the memories, the special times! From learning to drive the Chris Craft and skiing to those last trips with her back and forth to the Lake! Hope I am still skiing at 72! I can still see her in the Cadillac with the dog in the back not afraid to go any where. Listening to her tell stories of her life growing up in MO, following Bill to N.C., raising you, so proud! Christmas parties at the boat club, dancing the twist, playing Tripoly with her jar of pennies! We will truly miss her!

MEMORIES,,,Wow we 3 served in the military at Camp Mackall,N.C. 17TH AIRBORNE,,,,EILENE was not in the military ,,however she could have served very well..I COULD STAY UP TILL LATE TONITE TELLING YOU STORIES ABOUT THIS WE LAUGHED A LOT AND CRIED A LITTLE ,,IT WAS A MOST INTERESTING EVENTS FOR ALL OF US...WE MADE A NITE JUMP AND BILL BROKE HIS NECK HE WAS SENT TO JEFFERSON BARRACKS SEVERAL WEEKS AND THAN A MEDICAL DIS CHARGE AND WAS SENT HOME WITH A PENSION FOR LIFE,,$28.OO PER MONTH,,WOW HE USE TO JOKE A LOT ABOUT THAT BIG PENSION..Eilene was a great buddy of mine and a nice sparky gal..Norma and OL TOM G. Tom, it's always difficult to lose someone you love so much. Our Mother is the one we bond with first in our lives and she is the one who always truly cares for us. She will never leave your heart.
I loved your Mom. She always made me feel welcome and was always good to me. She will leave a void in our lives but will always be with us in Spirit.

So many sweet memories of Eileen and Bill especially when we were still living in Des Moines. I especially remember seeing them at All Saints for Sunday Mass and I remember parties and picnics at their old house. Eilene was a classy woman, well respected and loved by many.

I loved your mom's spunk and spirit! Definitely one of a kind. She was always so good to all of us as children and adults! Eilene and our mom(Virginia) would put in enormous hours to make sure we
all had a great and hand made
holiday every year. As Eilene aged
she needed a little TLC which you
provided to her. Thanks for always inviting me to be a part of the special occasions. We will miss your
mother! I write this with a tear in
my heart, even though I know
Eilene will now be with Bill in
heaven.

Tom and Family, Eilene was a very special and unique person. Talk about energy, vitality and just plain fun! The only fault she had is that she would not speak her mind. She was bad about keeping things inside.... OK, we all know that's a simply not true. She inspired all around her to have a voice, speak your mind, be heard and that.. it matters! She truly made a difference in everyone's life that she touched. A positive and long lasting difference! Eilene was a truly beautful woman that left a lasting legacy, one we could all be proud of when we're gone. Most sincerely and with love, Tom, Cheri Liddell and Family.
