John Utter, 64, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 27, 2012.
John was born October 25, 1947, in Stuart, Iowa, to Fred and Blanche Utter. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John was a great handyman, and retired from Lowe’s. He enjoyed collecting Disney memorabilia.
John is survived by his brother, Chuck (Diane) Utter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. There will be a visitation Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was my classmate at East High School. We had many fun times together. I'm so sorry that I didn't get to see him in recent years. A few years ago, I had heard that he worked at Lowes and I drove over there to see him, but he had already retired from there. I will remember him always. I pray the family has peace in knowing God loves him.

I had the opportunity to work with John at Lowe's and he was such a great employee and wonderful person. He will be greatly missed.

John was a great guy. he will be missed alot. John always had a smile on his face. he never was a complainer. im glad i got to know hime the last 1year and half.

Never saw Johnny that he didn't have a smile on his face to share with you or a kind hello, how are you? He will be missed by many. My condolences to Chuck and his family and may God bless and keep all of you safe.
