Lot Thong, 81, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Hospital following a long-term illness.

Lot was born January 18, 1931, in Cambodia, and came to Des Moines in 1979. He worked for many years at the Mandarin Chinese Restaurant, and retired from the Iowa Meat Packing plant. Lot was a member of the Cambodian Buddhism Society. He enjoyed watching boxing.

Lot is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kim Chheav; Godson, Sry So; grandchildren, Somyoung (Sunny) Pich, Seng Sovath and Sanaye (Tuet) Chung; cousin, Hong (Loek Som) Hoeut; nephew, Chem Chith; and sponsor, Try (Samoeun Chhouk) Tuon. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, two sisters and his parents.

Funeral services will be held 5 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
