William “Bill” Boothroy, 89, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice.
Bill was born June 19, 1923, in Des Moines, to Thomas and Ina (Fraker) Boothroy. He lived in the Mitchellville/Altoona area his entire life and graduated from Mitchellville High School. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Kent Feeds in 1985, where he had worked as a Sales Product Coordinator for 18 years. Bill was a member of the Altoona Christian Church, the American Legion, and was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; sons, Douglas (Bonnie) Boothroy and Dennis (Sue) Boothroy; grandchildren, David (Christine) Boothroy, Kaila (John) Kenjar, Chandra Boothroy and Christopher Boothroy; and his great-grandson, Connor Hardy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara O’Leary.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at Altoona Christian Church, 2890 1st Avenue S, followed by burial at Mitchellville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor Hospice House, in loving memory of Bill.

Dear Ginny and family:
So very sorry to learn of Bill's death. Terry and I extend our most heartfelt sympathy to you all. I had run into Bill a few months back at HyVee, and we had a nice visit about when you lived in our 1st Street neighborhood. Was fun to reminisce as the four children we were raising then, are all grown and have shared five grandchildren with us (a 6th on the way). May God Bless each of you as you grieve your loss. We are sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. Oh how we look forward to the fulfillment of Isaiah 25:8, 'death will be gone forever'! May the Hearer of Prayer comfort, console and provide needed strength as you go through this difficult time. God is very near to us during times as these, he sees our tears, understands our grief and provides his holy inspired Word the Bible to help us cope. Soon permanent changes we will see that Revelation 21:3,4 promises!!
