Jaci Gordon
June 21, 2012
Jaci Gordon, 58, passed away on June 21, 2012, at the Kavanagh House. A celebration of life service will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, on Monday, June 25, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held the night before from 6 to 8 p.m., at Hope’s Chapel.
Jaci was born to John and Marcella Yochum of Newton, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she earned a B.S. and two master’s degrees from Drake University, and a doctorate from Walden University. Jaci worked as a medical technologist at several hospitals and clinics, including the Des Moines Veterans Administration Hospital, and as a mental health counselor in private practice. She most recently worked as the women’s ministry coordinator at Lutheran Church of Hope.
What Jaci loved to do most was to read (most anything), learn, write, and teach about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Please be in prayer for Jaci’s surviving family and friends, her husband, Sid; her mother, Marcella; sister, Jo (Harold Davis) Yochum; brother, Scott (Debbie) Yochum; nephews, Brad and Trevor Yochum; and many close supporting family members and friends. Jaci was preceded in death by her father, John Yochum.
Memorial contributions can be made to The University of Iowa Transplant Clinic, Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center or to Lutheran Church of Hope - Women’s Ministry.

I didn't know I had a "Jaci" void until she came into my life. I will always remember laughing with her; praying with her and being a fellow twitt! I have been blessed to know her. If you look up "sweet" in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure it will have a picture of Jaci beside it. I will miss her so much, but I'm so grateful that this isn't all there is. Dance for Jesus, Jaci, He's clapping His hands and singing over you!

I was so sad to hear of Jaci's passing. I met her in Junior High School and remember her as such a sweet and kind soul. I feel fortunate that I had the privilege of having a nice visit with her at our 30th or 35th? class reunion.
My condolences to Jaci's family.

Though I didn't know Jaci personally, I felt like I knew her from her leadership of the Women's Ministry at Hope and especially at the yearly Christmas brunches she hosted. Her love for Christ was palpable and her warm and gentle manner was infectious. I was saddened to learn of her passing, but know she is at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
