Janie Haden Halligan

Janie Haden Halligan, 57, died on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at her home from lung cancer.

Janie was born March 17, 1955, in Missouri, where she grew up. She moved to Des Moines in 1981. Janie attended Johnston Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed writing poetry, many of which were published, and spending time with her family.

Janie is survived by her life-long companion, Sam Jones; children, Price Gardner, Lindsey Gardner, and Amber Le; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Austin, Tessa, Sierra, Jacob, Noah, Gabriella, Christopher, Matthew, Kiana, Tyler, and Madison; brothers, Ron, John, and Jim; sisters, Tanya and Dawn; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

A funeral service will be held 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions will be received by the family.
