Dorothy Jackovich, 93, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at Wesley Acres Retirement Community surrounded by her family. She was born April 14, 1919 to George and Madeline Roe in Kirksville, Missouri and moved to the Madrid area with her family in 1930.

Dorothy married Joseph Jackovich in 1941 and they moved to Des Moines where they raised their two children. Dorothy retired from Meredith Corporation in 1981 after 26 years of service. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, and was an avid reader.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Marianne (Bob) Early and Michael (Claudia) Jackovich; grandchildren, Patrick Early, Kevin (Heidi) Early, Michelle (Adam) Fetters, and Katie (Brad) Crookshank; great-grandchildren, Cora, Sean, Meagan, and Payton; brother, George “Jerry” (Sharon) Roe; sister-in-law, Velma Olsen; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 2011; and siblings, Robert, Eunice, John, and Mark Roe, Maryann Stewart, and Alice Jakovich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will occur 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Madrid. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Life Hospice Care or All Saints Catholic Church in loving memory of Dorothy.
