Sara Elizabeth Smith

Sara Smith, 59, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.

Sara was born on July 1, 1951 to Verna (Clayborne) and Morris Smith in Des Moines, Iowa. She went to school in the Des Moines School System. She worked at Methodist Hospital for 15 years, and then at Mercy for another 13 years. She enjoyed movies, watching TV, and taking care of her cats and dogs.

Sara is survived by her mother, Verna Smith; her nephew, Phillip Vaughn; her sister, Madelyn Delaney; very special friend, Mary Passick; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Morris I. Smith, Sr.; her brother Morris I. Smith, Jr.; and her sisters: Patricia Ann Givens, and Jeanette L. Wilson.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 814 School Street in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sara.
