Gerald “Jerry” Walker passed away on June 3, 2012, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church, 3857 E. 42nd Street in Des Moines, followed by burial at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.
Jerry was born May 20, 1938, in Winston, Missouri. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957. He was a ceramic tile contractor by trade and loved his work, semi retiring in 2001. Family was very important to him. He loved his grandkids and attended all of their sporting events and other activities. He liked working in his yard and garden and enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling. Jerry was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and a strong believer in Jesus Christ.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene; son, Gary (Patti) Walker; daughters, Patti (Steve) Jurgensen and Susie (Brad) Rogers; eight grandchildren, Codi (Mike) Delmonte, Kelli and Megan Walker, Christian and Caroline Rogers and Ryan and Ally Jurgensen, Linsey (Mike) Montgomery; great-grandchild, J. Marcus Montgomery; former daughter-in-law, Mimi Walker; sister, JoAnn Lawrence; sister-in-law, Evelyn Buenting; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Arlena Walker; and brother-in-law, John Buenting.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.

I am so sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. He was such a wonderful person and always had such a great smile for me. He will definitely be missed!
