Juanita Cunconan

Juanita Estelle Cunconan, of Richardson, TX, entered eternal life on May 24, 2012, at the age of 87. She was born in Des Moines, IA, on March 3, 1925, and was the youngest of eight children born to Elmer and Mary Victoria Sowers. She attended East Des Moines High School and later a business school for advanced secretarial skills. She had a long career as an Executive Secretary for the Vice President of Home Federal Savings and Loan of Des Moines, IA. She retired in 1975 and in 1978, she and her husband moved to Richardson, TX, where her husband Tom continued his career with Lennox Industries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six of seven siblings, and a son, Jody A. Reed. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Cunconan of Richardson, TX, a sister, Mary McAlister of Rochester, MN, a son, William W. Reed (Penny) of Des Moines, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews and their progeny. She also leaves a heritage of seven grandchildren and fifteen great–grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, June 1, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home at 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. Visitation hours will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., followed by travel to Glendale Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Glendale Cemetery is at 4909 University Des Moines, IA 50311.
