Service Details
Carroll R. Askland, 78, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Carroll was born August 20, 1933, in Humboldt, IA, to Ray and Myrtle Askland. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Carroll worked as a salesman for Iowa Paint Company.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Shirley Askland; sons, Glen (Delia) Askland, Gary (Rachel) Askland, Ron Askland, Timothy (Susan) Askland; daughters, Marjorie (David) Ledford, Carol Olson; grandchildren, Abby Kennedy, Ladd Askland, Clay Askland, Michael Ledford, Alexis Ledford, Charlotte Ledford, Adrian Askland, Nicole Askland, Logan Olson, Hannah Olson; great grandchild, Ivy Kennedy; brother, Russell (Connie) Askland; sisters, Donna (Kenny) Vandervoort, Joann (Bob) Seemuth, and Charlotte Ortega. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kirk Stephen, and sister, Lavonne.

I was so touched when I saw that you made our Dad a honorary pallbearer. Very thoughtful. I was so glad to get the chance to visit with each one of you. Your Mom is a sweetheart. I really miss my Mom. Be sure and always tell your Mom that you love her--even when on the phone. I'm glad I did with my Mom!

Shirley & Family,
My thoughts are with all of you during your loss. Carroll, was such a warm, humorous, man who brought smiles and laughs to those around him! My dad always spoke so highly of him and appreciated their true friendship over all the years and willingness to help him out...he could always rely on Carroll! My dad, family, and I will miss him and the memories we shared at my parents home and the Club 2000! My prayers and heartfelt sympathy are with all of you.
